A well-chosen wall light changes a whole room: it draws the light instead of imposing it. This collection brings together 188 wall lights in natural materials, from raw travertine to blown opal glass, made as much for ambient light as for reading. You will find sculptural pieces here alongside quiet fittings meant for hallways and bedheads.
Unlike a table lamp, a wall light takes up no floor space and no room on your furniture. That is what makes it so valuable in narrow rooms, entrance halls, stairwells and bedrooms where the bedside table is always short of space. Fitted at the right height, a wall light casts a grazing light that reveals the texture of the wall and visually opens up the volume. Every model here favours soft diffusion: travertine and alabaster filter the output naturally, opal glass softens it, solid wood warms its colour. Choosing a wall light in these materials means giving up harsh lighting in favour of light that is lived in rather than switched on. It also means accepting that a fitting stays visible in daylight, switched off, and that the material then counts as much as the light.
Four families give this wall light selection its shape. The travertine models offer real stone with open pores, each piece carrying veining that belongs to it alone; they sit well with mineral interiors and beige palettes. The wooden wall lights, most often in solid walnut or ash, bring the warmth and the clean line of Scandinavian design. Alabaster remains the most striking of the four: translucent, it lights up from within and becomes the source itself, with a milky grain that nothing truly imitates. Opal glass, finally, spreads an even white light with no hot spot and no glare. Alongside these four families sits a range of outdoor wall lights rated IP65, in corrosion-resistant aluminium, made for facades and covered terraces.
A wall light is fitted for years, usually on an outlet that will never be moved again. Most of our models carry a high-performance LED source of around 50,000 hours, which is more than fifteen years at three hours a day. The others take a standard E27 Edison screw (ES) or G9 capsule bulb, which leaves you free to choose the bulb and its colour temperature. Several references are dimmable, and that is worth having in a bedroom. The finishes run to walnut, white, matt black and gold brass, enough to match each wall light to the ironmongery already in your home. Pieces in real stone arrive with their original veining, untouched: two examples of the same model will never be exactly alike.
Start with the use. Above a bed, aim for a height of 120 to 140 cm from the floor, and choose an adjustable model if you read at night; the densest search on the British market is for wall lights either side of a bed, and it always means buying two. In a hallway, space the light points about two metres apart to avoid pools of shadow. For a bathroom, check the bathroom zone rating, which several of our references carry. On size, a wall light of 10 to 15 cm is enough beside a doorway, while a lounge takes pieces of 25 to 40 cm without any trouble. Think about colour temperature as well: our LED models sit around 3000 K, a warm light that suits rooms for unwinding, where a study asks for 4000 K instead.
Browse the sub-collections by material to narrow the search: wall lights in wood, alabaster, travertine or opal glass. Every product page sets out the exact dimensions, the light source and the finishes offered, so that you order knowing precisely what will arrive.
