Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis black wall light in the japandi register marries the discipline of wrought iron with the softness of a natural fabric in hemp or linen. An upright cylinder 30 cm high, the black wall light settles into a spare room and adds a muted light to the wall. A quiet piece, which speaks of material before decoration.
The japandi register looks for a balance between Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian warmth, and this black wall light gives a very legible translation of it. Its structure in wrought iron, black and spare, draws a clean, almost graphic silhouette that holds the wall like a stroke of ink. The diffuser is a natural fabric with the texture of hemp or linen, a soft material that filters the light and lends it a muted grain. The contrast between the dark line of the metal and the pale veil of the fabric makes a subtle play you appreciate lit and unlit alike. At 30 cm high, 13 cm in diameter and 13 cm deep, this black wall light stays compact and goes easily into a hallway, beside a bed or next to a reading chair, and its 13 cm projection keeps it clear of a passing shoulder. Its upright cylinder follows the lines of the room, from the door frames to the window reveals. In a room of natural tones, the black wall light carries on the materials already there: pale timber, rattan, matt ceramic, raw textiles. In a more contemporary room it brings an organic note that softens the angles. It suits anyone who prefers discreet light and objects that reveal themselves slowly.
For a black wall light this restrained, the details are what matter. The natural fabric wrapped around the source spreads the light evenly, with no glaring point, and brings a hushed atmosphere that neither glass nor metal alone provides. The integrated LED is part of the fitting: there is no bulb to choose, and the lines stay perfectly clean. The quoted lit area is 10 to 15 square metres, which makes this black wall light right for a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a small lounge, and several pieces can of course be combined to cover more. The product runs on a standard 220 V supply, so check that this matches your installation before it goes up, and your electrician will confirm it in a moment. The format is an upright cylinder of 30 cm high by 13 cm wide and 13 cm deep, measurements that allow a run of them along one wall without the whole looking crowded; under a 2.4 m ceiling, a black wall light of 30 cm leaves clearance to spare above and below. Iron with a fabric shade is modest for its size, but on plasterboard a proper cavity fixing is still the right answer, and it takes no longer to fit than a plug. The materials are simple and legible at first glance: a dark metal, a pale fibre, a discreet source.
Start by working out the area to be lit. Between 10 and 15 square metres, a room is happy with one or two units, depending on how much ambient light you want. In a bedroom, put one black wall light either side of the bed for a soft reading light and to free both bedside tables, which is the usual reason for ordering a pair. In a hallway, repeat it at regular intervals: the natural fabric softens the light and makes the passage more welcoming. In a lounge, a black wall light beside a sofa or a bookcase accompanies the quieter hours. Against a model with a glass shade, fabric gives a more enveloping, less brilliant light that suits matt walls, plaster and pale paint. The black of the metal pairs easily with frames, handles or furniture legs in the same colour, which helps hold a room together. Simply take care to mount it at a height that keeps the source out of direct view, so you get the full benefit of the fabric. If you are unsure how many to buy, start with one black wall light and watch the light at dusk before adding a second. The fabric reads quite differently once the daylight has gone, and that is the moment to judge whether one source is enough for the room or whether a second would settle it.
Black wrought iron, natural fabric and the silhouette of a cylinder: this black wall light brings a japandi character that is calm and assured at once. Choose it at Alborra and give your walls the muted light they deserve.

Light decides whether a room makes you want to stay. Each light is chosen for its material and for what it does with it.
A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.
The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.
Exact dimensions, material, bulb cap type, what is included: everything is on the product page. You know what you are installing.
