Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis alabaster wall light sets two cylinders of Spanish stone against a central structure of solid brass. Symmetrical and architectural, the alabaster wall light gives a warm halo that flatters walls and materials alike. Each block of stone carries its own veining, which makes every piece unique.
An alabaster wall light resembles no other, because the stone itself writes the decoration. The two cylindrical diffusers are cut from genuine Spanish alabaster, known as Snowflake alabaster, a stone of pale gradations and fine veins. Every block has a unique grain: two fittings will never be quite identical, and that is exactly where their value lies. When the source comes on, the stone lights from within and lets its natural patterns show, for a soft, diffuse halo of real gentleness. This alabaster wall light is not trying to light brightly; it is trying to set an atmosphere. In a living room it softens the walls and brings out the textures beside it, linen, timber or lime plaster, and it belongs as readily in a spare room as in one full of materials. In a bedroom this alabaster wall light makes a lit cocoon for the end of the day. In an entrance it welcomes with elegance and prepares the eye for the rest of the house, which is more than most fittings in a hallway are asked to do. Its symmetrical composition, with a diffuser either side of a central axis, gives it a firmly architectural bearing. An alabaster wall light of this quality is for people who like honest materials and objects with a mineral history behind them, and it is as noticeable for the calm it spreads as for its shape.
The structure of this alabaster wall light rests on solid brass in a brushed finish, which frames the stone without dominating it. The metal brings a warm gold tone and a reassuring rigidity, while the alabaster brings the light and the softness. The integrated LED saves you looking for a compatible bulb: the source is part of the assembly, for a warm, steady light. The wiring is integrated and the fixing is to a wall. The alabaster wall light works with supply standards from 110 V to 240 V, which makes installation straightforward in most countries. Two formats are offered: the larger measures 45 cm high by 14 cm in diameter, the smaller 35 cm high by 9 cm in diameter. In both, the projection is about 15 cm from the wall, which is the figure to check in a narrow hallway where a shoulder passes close. On this alabaster wall light, two cylinders of stone on a brass frame are not slight, so settle the fixings with your electrician at the same time as the cable route; into masonry or a noggin rather than plasterboard alone. The contrast between brushed brass and stone gives the fitting a lasting elegance that owes nothing to a passing fashion.
Start from the height of the wall and the use. The larger 45 cm version suits generous walls, living rooms, entrances and stairwells, where it acts as a genuine lit marker; in a room with a 2.4 m ceiling, measure the clear run first. The smaller 35 cm version of this alabaster wall light, slimmer at 9 cm in diameter, finds its place in a bedroom, above a bedside table or in a narrow hallway. With a projection of about 15 cm, both sizes stay in proportion and do not encroach too far on the circulation space. You can also compose a pair, setting two fittings in symmetry either side of a mirror, a headboard or a sideboard, which means ordering two. Remember that the stone is natural: every alabaster wall light shows its own veins and gradations, and that is the whole richness of the material. The warm light of an alabaster wall light goes well with pale paint, natural timber or a raw textile, and badly with nothing much at all. One piece is often enough to change the mood of a wall, but a pair, each alabaster wall light set as a mirror image of the other, strengthens the architectural reading considerably. Take the time to compare the two heights before deciding: the larger imposes its verticality, while the smaller is content to be discreet, and the difference is easier to judge against your own wall than on a screen.
Spanish alabaster, solid brass and a warm light: this alabaster wall light gathers the essentials of a fitting made to last. Discover it at Alborra and let the stone light your room.
