Description
keyboard_arrow_downCompact and architectural, this travertine wall light sets a real natural travertine against solid wood and a base in a walnut tone. Its suspended form, 17 cm across, plays with light like a small wall sculpture. It suits anyone drawn to natural materials who wants a fitting that is discreet but not timid.
This travertine wall light is recognisable by its suspended format: the stone diffuser appears to float, held by a belt of solid wood. The real travertine, honed and left matt, softens the light and brings out its natural texture. At 17 cm long and 12.5 cm high, this travertine wall light is genuinely compact, which puts this travertine wall light where a conventional fitting would be too bulky. The integrated electrical wiring of this travertine wall light allows mounting on the wall or on the ceiling, which multiplies the ways of using it, and the shallow form is exactly what a 2.4 m ceiling asks for: on a landing or in a narrow hall there is nothing to catch a shoulder or a head. Above a door, in a corner or either side of a mirror, it supplies a precise point of light without saturating the space. On the ceiling, it can light a narrow hallway, a dressing room or a landing with the discretion of a small mineral porthole. A travertine wall light of this size suits a pared-back interior as readily as a warm scheme of linen, oak and ceramic. The stone and the walnut tone of the timber make a quiet palette that settles easily into neutrals. On a pale wall it stands out gently; on a darker wall it reads like a piece of mineral jewellery. Its construction mixes three materials, stone, timber and metal, and sets up a play of textures that works close up and from across the room.
This travertine wall light rests on a structure in black metal and a base in walnut-toned wood, which handle the fixing and the contrast. The graphic black draws a clean line around the stone, while the walnut brings warmth to the whole. Technically, this travertine wall light takes a single standard GX53 cap, with a recommended output of 5 W maximum, incandescent or LED equivalent. The bulb is not supplied: allow for it at installation and keep strictly to that 5 W limit. This travertine wall light is dimmer compatible, the dimmer not included, so the light can run from full output down to little more than a night light. A level that adjusts suits the hour: brisk for getting ready, low for sitting still. It is rated for damp locations, which makes it a sound choice for a bathroom or a covered outdoor space, and a travertine wall light with that rating saves buying two different models for the shower room and the rest of the house. A low-output bulb suits this format well: the stone gives an ambient light rather than a working one. Its compliance with the North American, Australian, European and Middle East standards also simplifies matters on a project outside France, and the integrated wiring keeps the connection tidy at either position.
In a bathroom, a damp-rated travertine wall light slips in beside a mirror or above a basin. Its mineral look recalls the atmosphere of a spa, with an enveloping light and no harsh brightness. On a covered terrace or in a porch, the stone and the timber make a link between the house and the garden. In an entrance or a hallway, mounting it on the ceiling turns this travertine wall light into a restrained secondary light overhead. Against a glass fitting this travertine wall light gives a more tactile result, closer to raw material; against one entirely in timber it gains visual lightness from the pale stone. For the bulb in this travertine wall light, stay under 5 W and favour a warm tone, which gives the travertine more depth. Bear in mind too that travertine is a natural stone: its markings vary a little from one fitting to the next, which strengthens its character rather than spoiling it. If you are fitting two, order them together, since stone cut later will not be matched exactly. And because the same piece goes on a wall or a ceiling, decide which before the back box is set: a travertine wall light turned into a low overhead light wants its supply centred on the space it lights, not on the wall below. Choosing a suspended travertine wall light means choosing an object that is noticed quietly, a detail that changes how a wall is read.
Compact, versatile and rated for damp locations, this travertine wall light brings real stone, walnut-toned timber and black metal together in a fitting for the wall or the ceiling. It is waiting for the next room you want to warm, at Alborra.

Light decides whether a room makes you want to stay. Each light is chosen for its material and for what it does with it.
A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.
The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.
Exact dimensions, material, bulb cap type, what is included: everything is on the product page. You know what you are installing.
