Description
keyboard_arrow_downAn alabaster wall light is first of all a matter of light passing through stone. This slim column, 6 cm across, in real alabaster and solid brass, comes in three heights: 60, 80 or 100 cm. It suits careful interiors that like a vertical line.
Alabaster is a translucent stone: light goes through it, takes on its colour and reveals what it was hiding. Here it forms the real alabaster diffuser of a narrow wall column, 6 cm wide and 6 cm deep. That slenderness gives the alabaster wall light an almost architectural silhouette, one that runs along a wall without taking up room, including in a corridor or beside a door. The height comes in three options, 60, 80 or 100 cm, which lets you work with a low ceiling, a narrow run of wall or a generous head height. A 100 cm alabaster wall light suits a stairwell or a tall lounge; the 60 cm answers a more intimate space, near a chest of drawers or a headboard. Under the 2.4 m ceiling common in British housing, the 60 and 80 cm versions leave wall above and below, while the 100 cm wants the volume to carry it. Sized like this, an alabaster wall light is chosen much as a picture would be, according to the height of the wall and how much empty space you want left around it. Whichever you take, the result is a clean vertical that structures the wall and lengthens the room. Unlit, the alabaster keeps a matt, soft presence; lit, it gives up the body of the stone and its shading, so this alabaster wall light offers two faces, one sculptural and one luminous. In a hallway where there is no room for a table, that is often the whole case for choosing a column over a lamp.
The column stands on a structure of solid brass, whose gold tone talks to the warm tone of the stone. The brass brings rigour and bearing, the alabaster brings softness, and the pairing is a classic of decorative lighting handled here in a contemporary spirit. The source is a high-brightness LED in warm light, intended to show the translucency without hardening the room. This alabaster wall light carries two comfort technologies: it is flicker-free, which limits eye fatigue and keeps the light steady over the whole height of the column, whichever version you choose, and it is anti-glare, which avoids the unpleasant sense of a source that is too bright. It is also smart-home compatible, meaning it can be brought into a connected house. You can include it in a lighting scene and run it with the rest of your installation as the day goes on. Set up that way, an alabaster wall light under remote control can come up gently at dusk without anyone crossing the room. Real stone, solid metal and current technology therefore make a coherent whole, where each material holds its part and where this alabaster wall light earns its place as much in use as in appearance. The brass also gives the column the weight you would expect of a solid metal, which is worth mentioning to whoever fixes it to the wall.
A column fitting is thought of in series. Two of the same height, either side of a mirror, a chimney breast or a glazed door, make an elegant symmetry, and the pair is the most common arrangement. Three in a line along a corridor give rhythm and lead the eye. For a plain atmosphere, stay with one height; for something freer, mix 60, 80 and 100 cm on the same run of wall. An alabaster wall light of 80 cm between columns of 60 and 100 cm composes a rising rhythm that reads very graphically. Keep in mind that alabaster is natural stone, so the veining and shading differ from piece to piece and two columns of a pair may show slight variations, which is where their charm lies. Set the alabaster wall light against pale matt walls, which let the light spread, or against a darker ground to underline the halo. If your house runs on a smart system, build a soft scene for the evening: the warm light of alabaster lends itself to the end of a day, and the brass structure adds a precious note without any excess. An alabaster wall light handled this way becomes part of how the house behaves rather than another switch to find.
Slim, translucent and smart-home ready, this alabaster wall light stands as a vertical stroke of light on your wall. Choose the height that suits the room and let the stone do the rest.

A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.
The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.
Exact dimensions, material, bulb cap type, what is included: everything is on the product page. You know what you are installing.
