Description
keyboard_arrow_downAn alabaster pendant light turns a single point on the ceiling into something closer to a small sculpture. This one pairs a shade of real alabaster, with its translucent white mineral veining, with a precisely made metal mount. It suits contemporary rooms that favour natural materials, quiet volumes and a soft, enveloping glow.
The main strength of an alabaster pendant light lies in how it handles light. The shade is cut from natural stone, and its white mineral veining is visible when the light is off and comes forward once the bulb is lit. Because the stone is translucent, the light does not arrive in a hard beam. It passes through the alabaster and spreads as a gentle halo, which softens the corners of a room and makes the whole space feel calmer. That quiet quality is why an alabaster pendant light suits a bedroom as well as a dining room. The compact, dense silhouette sits comfortably against pale walls, raw timber, linen or limewash without crowding the room. Two sizes are offered. Model A measures 18 cm across and 18 cm high, while model B keeps the 18 cm diameter and rises to 22 cm, so you can choose a squatter or slightly taller proportion. An alabaster pendant light works over a dining table as readily as in a hallway, a bedroom or beside a staircase, wherever a light deserves to be treated as an object in its own right. Hung in twos or threes at different heights, the pieces build a loose cluster in which every stone keeps its own pattern of veining.
Installation is straightforward. The light comes with a 150 cm cable that adjusts easily, so you can hang it higher over a walkway or lower over a table. It also suits sloping ceilings up to 30°, which helps in loft conversions and rooms under a pitched roof, where finding a fitting that sits properly is rarely simple. The mount is precision-made metal that frames the stone without competing with it. Seen from below, the alabaster pendant light shows little more than stone and the line of its mount. The bulb cap is a standard E14 small Edison screw (SES), common and easy to buy, and it takes a bulb of up to 15 W, incandescent or LED equivalent. The bulb is not included, which leaves you free to choose the colour temperature: a warm white will bring out the veining, a more neutral one will sharpen the whiteness of the stone. This alabaster pendant light works with a dimmer, not included, provided the bulb is dimmable too. It runs on an AC 110–240 V supply. A pendant of this kind is only as good as its fixing, and the shade is solid stone, so ask your electrician to confirm that the ceiling rose or hook is rated for the load before it goes up. This alabaster pendant light combines a noble material with plain mechanics and no superfluous part.
Start with the ceiling height. In a room of 2.40 m, which describes a great deal of British housing, a shade of 18 or 22 cm leaves very little to play with if you want the lowest point at 2.10 m from the finished floor over a walkway. Over a dining table the light can come lower, but over a hallway the 150 cm cable is better shortened than coiled. An alabaster pendant light also looks best when it is given some empty ceiling around it. Model A, as wide as it is tall, reads almost as a sphere, while model B, 4 cm taller, draws a slightly elongated volume. Over a table, a row of alabaster pendant lights hung at the same height sets up a regular rhythm; staggering them along the cable gives a looser, more spontaneous arrangement. Keep a comfortable gap between pieces when grouping them, so that each halo stays legible. On a sloping ceiling, check that the angle stays within the 30° limit and set the cable so the shade hangs truly vertical. Brass, pale oak, matt ceramic and natural textiles all sit well beside an alabaster pendant light, but the shade also stands alone in a calm room. Stay within the 15 W limit on the E14 cap, and pair a dimmable bulb with a dimmer if you like to change the mood through the day.
Real stone, translucent veining and a simple fixing: this alabaster pendant light brings together what one expects of a considered fitting. Choose model A or B for your proportions, add the bulb of your choice and let the light do the rest.

A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.
The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.
Exact dimensions, material, bulb cap type, what is included: everything is on the product page. You know what you are installing.
