This travertine table lamp pairs a base of real travertine with a white opal glass globe, a small and quiet object for a bedside, a shelf or the corner of a desk. It comes in two silhouettes: a conical one, 20 cm high, and a slender cylindrical one, 30 cm high. Lit in a dim room, it gives off a soft, milky glow.

A compact travertine table lamp for a bedside or shelf

Small in size, with a good deal of character: this travertine table lamp sits on a bedside table, a shelf or the edge of a desk, in places where a larger fitting would crowd the surface. The base is real travertine, warm in tone, with its natural grain and relief left visible, which gives the lamp a mineral footing that contrasts with the thinness of the glass. Each stone has its own shading, so no two lamps are exactly alike. Over it sits a white opal glass globe that wraps the bulb in a milky light, flattering the stone without overpowering it. Choosing between the two versions of this travertine table lamp is a question of placement. The conical travertine table lamp is 11 cm in diameter and 20 cm high; it is the lower of the two and settles easily among books or on a tray. The cylindrical version is 9 cm in diameter and 30 cm high, more vertical, and it draws the eye along a shelf. On either one, the travertine table lamp keeps the same stone and the same opal glass. A travertine table lamp of this size also works in a small group: two or three of different heights make a quiet row of light on a sideboard, and a matching pair either side of a bed balances a bedroom without any wall fixing.

Technical details of the travertine table lamp

This travertine table lamp takes a G9 capsule, a common small fitting, with a bulb of 10 W maximum, either incandescent or LED equivalent. The bulb is not included. This travertine table lamp is compatible with a dimmer, also not included, so it can move from a night light to a more present light for reading. A 150 cm cable with a push-button switch links the lamp to the socket, for a supply of AC 110–240 V. Your electrician will want to know that this travertine table lamp is plug-in, with no hard wiring involved. The opal glass spreads the light evenly and hides the glare of the bulb itself, which suits a room where you want a gentle glow rather than a spotlight. The conical version measures 11 cm across by 20 cm high, and the cylindrical version 9 cm across by 30 cm high: two compact sizes that are easy to place. The travertine base gives the lamp its visual weight and its raw, sculptural look. The travertine table lamp is intended for indoor use only, and the listing names ETL, UL, CE, CSA, CCC and SAA marks. Nothing here is left to chance: natural stone, glass and a plain fitting that anyone can change. Its small footprint also makes it a good companion to a larger lamp, adding a second source of soft light to a room.

Placing and caring for your travertine table lamp

In a bedroom, put your travertine table lamp on the bedside table: its opal light accompanies reading or falling asleep without lighting the whole room. In a lounge, the 30 cm cylindrical version looks well beside a plant or a stack of books, where it works like a small sculpture on a shelf. In a hallway, on a console, the 20 cm conical version makes a welcoming point of light that you switch on as you come in. To keep this travertine table lamp at its best, dust the stone with a dry, soft cloth and avoid abrasive products, which could mark the surface. The opal glass needs only a dry cloth too, and you should always unplug the lamp before cleaning it or changing the bulb. Choose a warm G9 capsule bulb and, if you wish, a dimmer: the travertine table lamp then becomes a flexible source of atmosphere, fading into the background or glowing as the hour requires. Beside a large floor lamp, a travertine table lamp takes up almost no room, which suits town flats, small studies and spare bedrooms. Set on a wooden tray or next to a ceramic piece, it makes a small still life that changes with the seasons.

A real travertine base, a white opal glass globe and two silhouettes to choose from: this travertine table lamp gives a soft light in a small format. Pick the conical or the cylindrical version that suits your room and bring a little natural stone within reach.

Light decides whether a room makes you want to stay. Each light is chosen for its material and for what it does with it.

    How we choose a light

    A light for every room

A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.

    Stone, not an imitation

The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.

A third of our lights have a built-in LED: nothing to buy. The others take a standard bulb, which is generally not supplied. The bulb cap type is on the product page.

Will my stone light be identical to the photo?

    keyboard_arrow_down

No, and that is deliberate: travertine and alabaster are real stones, and the veining differs from one piece to the next. The shape and dimensions, however, are as specified.

Can I install a light in a bathroom?

Some models. The ‘bathroom zone rating’ entry appears on the relevant product pages — without it, keep the light for dry rooms.
