Installation & light source The light is supplied without a bulb, so you can choose the colour temperature (warm or cool) to suit your room. We recommend a standard LED bulb (with the right cap) for the longest life. We recommend installation by a professional.

Caring for the stone Travertine is a porous natural stone. To clean it, simply use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh detergents, which could spoil the natural patina of the stone and the wood.

This compact travertine flush ceiling light pairs solid stone with walnut wood in a format 12 cm across. It comes in two tones of travertine, Cream and Volcano. Alborra sets out its materials, its dimensions and its possible uses below.

A solid travertine flush ceiling light of stone and walnut wood

This travertine flush ceiling light rests on a simple idea: let the material speak. It is made of real travertine and walnut wood, two natural materials that complete each other by contrast, the stone bringing mass and the wood bringing warmth. The stated weight of this travertine flush ceiling light, about 1.1 kg for solid stone, says something of its substance: this is no light shell but a worked block of stone, and it tells your electrician what the fixing must carry. Held in the hand it is dense and cool, and on a ceiling it reads as a small block of stone rather than a lampshade, a quiet answer to the plastic fittings that fill most corridors. At 12 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height, this travertine flush ceiling light stays very compact and finds a place where a wider fitting would be out of place: a narrow corridor, an entrance, a small bedroom, a dressing room or a passage. Under a 2.40 m ceiling it leaves 2.30 m beneath it. This travertine flush ceiling light can also be repeated in a series to give rhythm to a larger room, for instance by lining up several along a corridor or above a table. Travertine is a stone whose texture, cavities and tones vary from one piece to the next, so each example has its own character, which strengthens the handmade side of this travertine flush ceiling light. Paired with walnut, this travertine flush ceiling light makes a sober and warm whole that suits contemporary interiors, natural schemes and muted palettes built on sand, brown and cream. It belongs to an old tradition, that of cut stone in architecture, brought here to the scale of an indoor light: you can sense the cool grain of the travertine, you feel the weight of an object with substance, and you understand why natural materials hold such a place in decoration today.

The travertine flush ceiling light: variants, light source and installation

This travertine flush ceiling light is available in two tones: the white travertine, called Cream, luminous and soft, and the black, called Volcano, more graphic and more contrasting with the walnut. The dimensions are 12.0 cm in diameter by 10.0 cm in height. The light source of this travertine flush ceiling light rests on an LED-compatible bulb holder: the bulb is not included, which leaves you free to choose the power and the colour of light that suit your room. The installation is a surface fixing, in ceiling position, and the supply voltage is 110-240V, an international standard. It is sensible to leave the connection of this travertine flush ceiling light to an electrician, who will check that the fitting suits your installation, the choice of bulb and the strength of the support. Because of the weight of the stone, about 1.1 kg, the fixing must be solid and suited to the support, whether a concrete ceiling or a plasterboard one. This travertine flush ceiling light has nothing superfluous: a stone, a wood, a bulb holder and a fixing, in a logic of simplicity that will please those who prefer honest objects to gadgets.

Which travertine flush ceiling light: Cream or Volcano?

The choice between the two variants depends on the mood you want. The Cream travertine flush ceiling light, in a pale tone, melts into white ceilings and bright schemes, and shows off the warmth of the walnut. The black Volcano brings a stronger contrast, which suits contemporary interiors, dark walls and rooms where you want to make a point of character. Whichever tone of travertine flush ceiling light you take, think about the bulb: a warm-toned LED goes better with the stone and the wood, whereas a cooler light would give a sharper result. For a grouped look, fit three examples of the same variant at equal distances, so as to make a regular line on the ceiling. This travertine flush ceiling light also goes with a pendant light or a wall light in natural materials, to build coherence in one room, and walnut and travertine share warm tones that ease the pairing with every kind of furniture, from blond wood to black metal. In a hallway with a pale painted ceiling, the Cream tone almost disappears and lets the walnut carry the colour.

Every example keeps the mark of the stone, which is what makes this small light so likeable. Compact, solid and authentic, this travertine flush ceiling light in walnut wood and real stone is chosen in Cream or Volcano. All that remains is to decide where it goes and what colour of bulb it takes.

Light decides whether a room makes you want to stay. Each light is chosen for its material and for what it does with it.

    How we choose a light

    A light for every room

A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.

    Stone, not an imitation

The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.

A third of our lights have a built-in LED: nothing to buy. The others take a standard bulb, which is generally not supplied. The bulb cap type is on the product page.

Will my stone light be identical to the photo?

No, and that is deliberate: travertine and alabaster are real stones, and the veining differs from one piece to the next. The shape and dimensions, however, are as specified.

Can I install a light in a bathroom?

Some models. The ‘bathroom zone rating’ entry appears on the relevant product pages — without it, keep the light for dry rooms.
