Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis linear travertine flush ceiling light lines up a stone body and globes of frosted glass on a base of solid wood. Offered with two or three heads, it makes a sculptural line on the ceiling, in the natural tones of the travertine. Alborra presents its materials and its use below.
This linear travertine flush ceiling light seduces by its material before it attracts by its light. The sculptural body is cut from travertine stone with a textured pale finish: you can read the pores and the tones typical of this limestone, recognised by its warm grain. On this stone body rest globes of white frosted glass, which soften the light and spread it without glare. The base, or canopy, is in solid wood, in a light wood or a walnut colour: it extends the ceiling and houses the integrated wiring. This combination of stone, wood and glass makes a linear travertine flush ceiling light that sits easily in contemporary interiors, those that look for true materials and simple lines. Fitted above a dining table, a kitchen island, a desk or an entrance, it draws a horizontal that structures the room. Unlit, it is a sculptural object in its own right; lit, it throws a white, muted light that gives the travertine relief. Each stone being natural, the texture and the tones vary slightly from one piece to another, which gives the linear travertine flush ceiling light its singularity. In a dining room it replaces a bulky pendant light to advantage, since it stays close to the ceiling while keeping a real decorative presence. In a kitchen it goes over a worktop or a passage, with the warmth of solid wood as a counterpoint to the stone. Because the heads are aligned, the light falls in a line rather than a single pool, which suits a table or a worktop better than a round fitting would.
This linear travertine flush ceiling light comes in two models: the 2-head version measures L 27 cm by H 15 cm, and the 3-head version measures L 40 cm by H 15 cm. Under a 2.40 m ceiling the 15 cm height of this linear travertine flush ceiling light leaves 2.25 m beneath it. It mounts on the ceiling, with an integrated electrical wiring. Each head takes a standard E27 Edison screw (ES) cap, listed as E26/E27; the bulbs are not included, which leaves you free to choose the colour temperature that suits you. The recommended power of this linear travertine flush ceiling light is 40 W maximum in incandescent, or the LED equivalent, and the fitting is compatible with dimmers, handy for moving the mood from day to night. It carries a bathroom zone rating (certified for humid zones) and is presented as suited to bathrooms and covered spaces, with a compliance listing North American, Australian, European and Middle Eastern standards. The globes in white frosted glass hide the bulb and give the light a milky look, while the base in solid wood gives a firm fixing to the ceiling. In short, this linear travertine flush ceiling light offers a real mineral character in a reasonable format, without giving up the conveniences of a fitting with standard bulb caps.
The choice between the two versions comes down to space and the look you want. The 2-head linear travertine flush ceiling light, 27 cm long, suits an entrance, a corridor, a small bedroom or a shower room, where it gives a soft light without taking up room. Both versions share the same 15 cm height, so you can combine them in one home with real coherence: a 3-head model in the lounge, a 2-head model in the corridor, for example. The 3-head linear travertine flush ceiling light, 40 cm long, gives a more generous light and a firmer presence, suited to a lounge, a study or a larger bathroom. As for the base, the light wood melts into bright schemes, while the walnut colour adds more contrast with the pale stone. If you light a damp room, remember that this linear travertine flush ceiling light carries a zone rating, but its connection to the ceiling remains an electrician’s job. Finally, choose bulbs of a warm tone: they will bring out the grain of the stone and give the frosted globes all their roundness. Over a long table, one 3-head fitting at each end gives six points of light and an even wash across the surface.
With its stone body, its frosted glass globes and its solid wood base, this linear travertine flush ceiling light makes the ceiling a place of material and softness. Choose two or three heads to suit your room, then the tone of the base that suits you.
