Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis travertine pendant light marries a cylinder of sand-toned travertine to an intersecting disc of solid wood in a walnut colour. It is made of one, two or three heads on a linear mount, and it gives a room structure with restraint.
The luminous part of this travertine pendant light is a cylinder of real travertine, in a textured sand tone that shows the pores and the grain of the stone. Through it passes a disc of solid wood in a walnut-colour finish, which cuts the cylinder like a ring and gives the fitting its drawing. The result is a simple geometry, a cylinder and a disc, each in its own material, and this travertine pendant light relies on that clarity. The disc crosses the stone, so that the two materials are read together. The single head measures 20 cm across and 11 cm high, a low, wide form that takes little headroom. The linear version with two heads is 60 cm long, and the one with three heads is 80 cm long, and both hang at an overall height of 150 cm. A travertine pendant light of this type suits a dining table, a counter, a long console or an entrance, and the linear mounts spread the light along a surface instead of gathering it at one point. The stone is natural, so in this travertine pendant light the grain and the shades of sand differ from one cylinder to the next, which is part of the pleasure of a mineral material. The wood disc adds warmth to the stone and links it to the timber in your room. Together they give a sober look that suits a modern scheme with plaster, oak and linen.
Each head of this travertine pendant light has a standard E27 Edison screw (ES) cap, and takes a bulb of up to 40 W, incandescent or the LED equivalent, per head, not included. It works with a dimmer, not included, so you can set the light to the hour. The cable of 150 cm adjusts easily in height, and the canopy suits sloped ceilings of up to 30 degrees. The supply runs from 110 to 240 V AC. We recommend a qualified electrician for the connection. The technical data of this travertine pendant light are the same for the three versions, so you choose on size: the single head at 20 cm for a spot of light, the two-head line at 60 cm for a table of four, and the three-head line at 80 cm for a long table or a kitchen island. Because the cap is standard, the bulb of this travertine pendant light can be a warm LED, which keeps the stone soft and the energy use low. The mount is linear, so the heads sit in a row rather than in a circle. The disc and the cylinder are the same on every version, so a single head in the hall and a line in the dining room look related.
For a long table, the three-head line is the natural choice. Centre it on the length of the table, and hang it so that the bottom of the stone is well above the plates and glasses. Under a 2.40 m ceiling, the 150 cm cable is too long for any place where people walk, since the usual guideline puts the lowest point of a pendant at 2.10 m above the finished floor; over a table a travertine pendant light may hang lower, but shorten the cable to suit your room. The single head, 20 cm across and 11 cm high, works well in pairs either side of a bed or in front of a window. Choose a warm, dimmable bulb, and keep the stone dry, wiping it with a dry cloth. A travertine pendant light with a wood disc sits well beside oak, ash or walnut furniture, and against a plain painted wall. Leave a little space around each head so that the cylinder and the disc can be seen from the side. The three-head line is 80 cm long, so it needs a table of about that length or more to look in proportion; over a shorter table, choose the two-head line. Over a bed, the single head is easy to live with, since its body is only 11 cm high.
A real travertine cylinder and a solid wood disc: this travertine pendant light is architectural and calm. Choose one, two or three heads, and hang it over the table you use most.
