Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis ceramic pendant light combines a shade in art ceramic, pleated and matt, with a structure in gold metal edged in brown. It comes in two forms, the capeline and the marquise, and it has an architectural look that is elegant and soft at once.
The shade of this ceramic pendant light is art ceramic with a matt pleated finish, a surface that folds like cloth but keeps the weight and the calm of fired clay. The pleats catch the light along their ridges and leave the hollows in shadow, so the shade seems to change as the day goes on. The structure and the accents of this ceramic pendant light are in gold metal with a thin edging in brown, a detail that gives the gold a warmer, deeper tone. Two forms are offered. The capeline measures 21.5 cm across and 18 cm high, and the marquise measures 29.5 cm across and 16 cm high, so that the second is wider and flatter and the first is narrower and taller. A ceramic pendant light in either form suits a dining table, an island, a hallway or a bedside, and the two can be hung together at different heights for a group that is varied but related. The overall look of this ceramic pendant light is architectural, because the pleats are regular and the outline is clear, and it is also gentle, because the matt surface takes the edge off any reflection. Each shade is made of ceramic, so small differences in the surface from one piece to the next are part of its character, and no two pleated shades are quite the same in tone. Matt ceramic does not glare, so the shade can hang at eye level over a table without dazzling anyone, and the gold mount adds a small, steady highlight.
This ceramic pendant light has a standard E27 Edison screw (ES) cap, and the bulb is not included. The maximum is 40 W incandescent or the LED equivalent. The fitting is compatible with a dimmer, not included, so you can lower the light for the evening and let the pleats show in soft shadow. The cable is 150 cm long and adjusts easily, and the canopy suits sloped ceilings of up to 30 degrees. The supply runs from 110 to 240 V AC, and we recommend a qualified electrician for the connection. A ceramic pendant light with a standard cap and a plain canopy is easy for an electrician to fit. The brown edging on the gold is a fine detail that you see on close inspection, and it stops the metal from looking flat. The two forms share the same technical data, so you can choose on size and proportion alone. A ceramic pendant light with a standard cap leaves the choice of bulb entirely to you, and a warm white brings out both the ceramic and the gold. The wiring is simple, and the cable is long enough to suit a high ceiling or to be shortened for a low one.
Choose the capeline, 21.5 cm across, for a bedside, a narrow table or a hall. Choose the marquise, 29.5 cm across, for a dining table, an island or a lounge, where the wider shade gives more light and a stronger presence. A ceramic pendant light in the marquise form also gives a broader pool of light, which helps over a table where several people sit. At 16 to 18 cm high, both shades take little headroom, but under a 2.40 m ceiling the 150 cm cable is more than you need, because the usual guideline puts the lowest point of a pendant at 2.10 m above the finished floor where people walk; over a table you can hang a ceramic pendant light lower, but shorten the cable to suit the room. A pair of capelines either side of a bed, or a marquise over a round table, shows the form to its best advantage. Dust the pleats with a soft dry brush, because a damp cloth will not reach into the folds. Pair this ceramic pendant light with pale timber, plaster and linen, and use a warm bulb. If you cannot decide, hang one of each at different heights over a table or a console; the two forms are related enough to make a pair.
Art ceramic with matt pleats and a gold mount edged in brown: this ceramic pendant light is elegant and calm. Choose the capeline or the marquise, and hang it where the pleats can be seen.

Light decides whether a room makes you want to stay. Each light is chosen for its material and for what it does with it.
A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.
The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.
Exact dimensions, material, bulb cap type, what is included: everything is on the product page. You know what you are installing.
