Description
keyboard_arrow_downA wood wall light paired with an frosted glass globe warms a wall without crowding it. This model brings together solid timber in a walnut or a white finish and an enveloping diffusion, for a contemporary room that likes natural materials. This wood wall light measures 18 cm wide by 28 cm high.
Solid timber gives this wood wall light a warmth that metal and plastic do not offer. The walnut finish shows a deep brown tone, while the white version settles into a paler scheme. The frosted glass globe softens the light: the bulb disappears behind the diffusing surface, and the brightness spreads evenly around the globe with no glare. Set in a hall, a corridor or either side of a headboard, the wood wall light does the work of a considered supplementary light, one that makes an atmosphere rather than a lit patch. At 18 cm by 28 cm high, this wood wall light stays measured: it takes its place on a wall without dominating the furniture around it. The solid timber brings visual weight, the glass globe lifts it, and the balance between the two is what keeps this wood wall light within 18 cm of width. The combination of timber and clear glass is a classic of decorative lighting, because it plays on the contrast between a matt, warm material and a luminous, smooth one. The globe, round and simple, avoids any excess of ornament, which lets a wood wall light of this shape suit a range of schemes: Scandinavian, japandi, or a revisited classic. It does more than light; it takes part in the composition of the wall, as a mirror or a frame would, and in a hallway it earns its keep twice over because nothing stands on the floor and the globe sits clear of a shoulder. Even in a revisited classical scheme it avoids looking like a period reproduction.
The engineering of this wood wall light is built for simplicity. Installation is plug-in: the cable carries a plug, so the fitting can be run from a socket, and the model also notes integrated wiring for a fixed installation. The light source is a G9 capsule: one G9 bulb, with LED preferred. Maximum output is 7W in LED, incandescent equivalent, which is enough for an ambient light. This wood wall light works with an external dimmer, not included, so you can take the level down in the evening or raise it to read. With a G9 cap and 7W at most the light from this wood wall light stays soft, which the opal globe accentuates further. The weight is around 1.5 kg, which reflects the solid timber and the glass: the assembly wants fixing to a sound wall, with plugs chosen for the material behind the plaster, and that is a figure worth having before anyone starts drilling rather than after. On compliance, the product is listed for North America, Australia, Europe and the Middle East. For a wood wall light finished to this level, the specification shows a coherent design: proper materials, a common bulb and a light that is easy to set, with a stated weight behind it, which is rarer on this market than it ought to be, and it is the number an electrician asks for first.
The finish follows from the colour of the wall and the furniture. Against a white or sand wall, the walnut makes a point of attachment: the wood wall light becomes a warm accent answering a floor, a table or a timber chair. Against a dark wall, green, midnight blue or grey, the white version stands out more and lightens the composition. Think about mounting height too: above a bedside table the wood wall light lights without obstruction; in a corridor it can mark the route at regular intervals. In twos, either side of a mirror or a bed, it makes a symmetry that orders the room, which is why the pair is the usual order. Choose a warm LED to bring out the grain of the timber, and a dimmer if you want to vary the mood. Solid timber asks little: a dry cloth for the mount, a soft cloth for the glass and nothing abrasive. On a wood wall light the finish is the finish of the mount, so look at it beside your own furniture before choosing between walnut and white. In a corridor a wood wall light can mark the route at regular intervals, which is a kinder answer than one bright fitting overhead.
Solid timber, frosted glass, a G9 cap and dimmer compatibility: this wood wall light combines a natural look with real flexibility. Choose the walnut or the white finish and bring some warmth to the wall.
