Description
keyboard_arrow_downA travertine wall light can be raw and delicate at the same time, and this 11 cm model proves it. A fluted tongue of stone in a sand tone carries an opal glass globe set on a mount of solid wood. It fixes to a wall or to a ceiling, with integrated wiring either way.
The body of this fitting is cut from authentic, honed travertine, worked into a ribbed tongue in a pale sand tone. The flutes catch the light and draw fine shadows across the stone, which gives this travertine wall light a relief that changes with the angle you see it from, and the reeded face is the detail that holds the eye. At the foot of the tongue on this travertine wall light, a globe in opal glass spreads a milky clarity with no direct glare. The mount and the accents are solid wood, offered in a walnut or a white finish: the walnut draws the fitting towards warmer tones, while the white lightens it and lets it settle into a pale wall. At 11 cm wide and 25 cm high, the format stays contained, yet the silhouette asserts a real sculptural presence, the kind an object has before anyone switches it on. This travertine wall light therefore keeps a full decorative part even unlit, which is worth something in a hall where the wall is in view all day. You can set it in an entrance, a small lounge or either side of a mirror. A travertine wall light of this kind suits contemporary interiors built on natural materials, held lines and soft contrasts between stone, glass and timber. It brings an architectural note without flattening the decoration beside it, and it stays easy to pair with other pieces drawn from the same family of materials.
The technical side is simple and reassuring. The fitting carries a standard G9 capsule cap for a single bulb, with a recommended output of 7 W maximum, in incandescent or the LED equivalent. The bulb is not included, so the colour temperature is your choice. This travertine wall light works with a dimmer, not supplied, to move from working light to something closer to atmosphere. The integrated wiring lets you fix it to a wall or to a ceiling, according to what the room allows, which is useful where the existing lighting point is not where you would want it. Another strength of this travertine wall light: it is rated for damp locations, which admits a bathroom as well as a covered outdoor position, a real advantage for a fitting with a body of natural stone, though the exact siting against the zones is your electrician to judge. In a wet room, a rated travertine wall light remains a rarity, and that alone is reason to look at this model closely. It also meets the standards of North America, Australia, Europe and the Middle East, which simplifies an international project. By combining real stone, premium opal glass and solid timber with these plain figures, this travertine wall light brings decoration and function together and goes in without awkward adaptation to a room that is already wired.
To make the most of this small piece, start with the bulb. At 7 W maximum, a warm LED produces a soft halo through the opal glass that underlines the sand tone of the stone. In an entrance hall, a dimmer lets you run only a low glow in the evening. In a bathroom, the damp rating lets you place it near a basin or beside a mirror without ruling out a natural material. A travertine wall light fitted there becomes a proper piece of decoration, on the same footing as a mirror or a stone shelf. On a balcony or a covered terrace it also has a place, out of direct rain. On a ceiling it replaces an ordinary flush ceiling light in a short corridor or a small cloakroom. For the finish, take the walnut if your room is warm and timbered, the white if it is pale and spare. A travertine wall light in the white finish settles into a pale wall, while the walnut version sets a firmer contrast against light render. Remember too that every piece of travertine is its own: veining, tone and flutes vary a little from one example to the next.
Sculptural, adaptable and rated for damp locations, this travertine wall light brings stone, glass and timber together at 11 cm across. It is waiting for your wall, or your ceiling, to show what it does with light.
