Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis travertine pendant light sculpts a flared shade from porous sand-toned stone, with solid walnut and black metal to extend it. It comes as a single head or as a linear line of three, and it holds attention as much as it lights.
The shade of this travertine pendant light is real sand-toned travertine with a porous finish, cut into a flared form that opens like a bell. The surface keeps the pores of the stone, so it reads as mineral rather than as paint. The accents and the mount of this travertine pendant light are in solid walnut and black metal, which add a warm detail and a sharp line to the pale shade. Two versions are offered. The single head measures 16 cm across and 9 cm high, a shallow form that takes very little headroom. The linear version has three heads on a canopy 60 cm long, hanging at an overall height of 150 cm. A travertine pendant light with a flared shade suits a bedside, an entrance, a table or a counter, and the line of three suits a dining table of medium length. The shape is sculptural but not heavy, because the flare opens the stone outward and lets the light spread. The grain and the shades of sand vary from one shade of this travertine pendant light to another, as with any natural stone. A GU10 cap is usually found in spotlights, and here it gives a more focused light than the usual E27 Edison screw (ES) cap, which suits the sculptural shade: the light is aimed rather than scattered. The walnut at the top softens the stone, and the black metal gives the whole a clear outline, so the fitting fits in a modern room as readily as in a traditional one.
Each head of this travertine pendant light takes a GU10 bulb, not included, with a maximum of 10 W incandescent or the LED equivalent. A GU10 bulb is directional, so the light is thrown downward in a cone rather than in all directions, which suits a table or a worktop. The fitting is compatible with a dimmer, not included, though you should check that the GU10 bulb you choose is dimmable. A dimmable GU10 LED makes this travertine pendant light much more flexible in the evening, so it is worth choosing one. The cable is 150 cm and adjusts easily, and the canopy suits sloped ceilings of up to 30 degrees. The supply runs from 110 to 240 V AC. We recommend a qualified electrician for the connection, as for any fixed fitting. A GU10 cap on a travertine pendant light means that the bulb is small and the choice is wide, so you can pick a warm white with a beam angle that suits your table. The data are the same for the single head and for the line of three, so you can choose on layout alone. Three GU10 bulbs of 10 W each give 30 W in total on the line version, or much less with LED.
Because the light of a GU10 bulb is directional, the height of the fitting matters more than usual. Hang the travertine pendant light so that the cone falls on the table or the worktop and not in the eyes of the people seated around it. Under a 2.40 m ceiling, the 150 cm cable is too long for any place where people walk, since the usual guideline puts the lowest point of a pendant at 2.10 m above the finished floor; over a table you may hang this travertine pendant light lower, but shorten the cable to suit. Because the stone surrounds the bulb, glare stays low. The single head, only 9 cm high, is the easiest version to fit in a low room. The line of three, 60 cm long, suits a table for four to six. Choose a warm bulb to keep the pores of the stone soft, and wipe the surface with a dry cloth. A travertine pendant light of this kind pairs well with pale oak, plaster and linen, and with black taps or frames that echo the mount. In a hallway, the single head, only 9 cm high, makes a discreet pendant that does not crowd the walls.
A flared shade of porous travertine, solid walnut and black metal: this travertine pendant light is sculptural and measured. Choose a single head or a line of three, and fit it with a GU10 bulb.

Light decides whether a room makes you want to stay. Each light is chosen for its material and for what it does with it.
A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.
The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.
Exact dimensions, material, bulb cap type, what is included: everything is on the product page. You know what you are installing.
