Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis Art Deco alabaster wall light sets a body of real alabaster inside a brass frame, with two lights to each piece. The cloudy veining is unique, as it is in any natural stone, and the narrow 10 cm silhouette slips into tight places. An alabaster wall light that mounts on a wall or on a ceiling.
The luminous body is real alabaster, a stone whose cloudy veining is unique to each block and whose translucency softens the source behind it. The band and the frame are brass, offered in a gold or a black finish, which lets you set the character of the whole. This alabaster wall light comes in two heights, 35 cm for the standard model and 50 cm for the large one, with a width of 10 cm shared by both. That narrow format is valuable in a hallway, on a staircase or either side of a mirror, where a wide fitting would be in the way. An alabaster wall light of 50 cm stretches upwards and gives verticality to a clear wall, while the 35 cm model suits a tighter one, and in a room with a 2.4 m ceiling the shorter of the two is the one that leaves the proportions alone. The Art Deco bearing is read in the discipline of the brass, which frames the stone like a setting. Choosing a gold alabaster wall light means choosing a classic warmth, while the black version sets a more graphic contrast against the pale stone. In both finishes the veining remains the leading character, since no block of alabaster quite resembles its neighbour. Lit, the stone shows its depth; unlit, an alabaster wall light of this kind keeps the composure of a decorative object.
Each alabaster wall light runs on two G4 bi-pin bulb caps. The recommended bulbs are 230V G4 LEDs in warm white, 2700K to 3000K, rated between 1.5W and 2.5W, and they are not included. That modest output is enough to make ambient light through alabaster, which diffuses it gently. Dimming is possible on this alabaster wall light, provided the bulbs are dimmable and a dimmer is fitted, neither of which is supplied. Supply is a direct 230V mains connection with no transformer, and it remains compatible with alternating current from 110V to 240V, which is the detail an electrician will check first. Mounting on a wall or on a ceiling is possible, with integrated wiring, so the piece can go wherever the room allows. Whether it sits as an alabaster wall light or overhead, the vertical elegance is the same. North American, European, Australian and Middle Eastern standards are met. For an alabaster wall light of this class the simplicity of the connection counts for a great deal, because there is no intermediate transformer to find room for behind the backplate. The brass carries the structure and the band, and it is what holds the piece visually. Two low-output bulbs give a light that is spread rather than concentrated, which is particularly pleasant through a body of stone. Together with a 10 cm width, that low load makes an alabaster wall light easy to place where space is short.
To settle on the right height, measure the wall that will carry your alabaster wall light first. The 35 cm model sits readily at eye level, while the 50 cm one suits taller walls and a clear run above the skirting. For exact symmetry, fit two identical pieces either side of a mirror or a headboard, which is how most British bedrooms want them and means ordering two. A gold alabaster wall light agrees with brass already in the room, on door furniture or a picture frame for instance. Choose the black finish for a more contemporary and contrasted result, particularly against a pale wall. Remember that the G4 bulbs are not included, nor is the dimmer, and that this alabaster wall light needs dimmable LEDs if the level is to be varied. A warm white of 2700K brings out the shading of the stone, while 3000K gives a slightly crisper light. Mounted overhead, the piece reads as a small vertical ceiling light; on the wall, an alabaster wall light underlines the surface it is fixed to. In a living room or a hallway, its slender shape makes a vertical rhythm that lengthens the space, and its width of 10 cm makes it easy to fit in a compact spot.
Real alabaster, brass, two lights and a width of only 10 cm: this alabaster wall light gathers what makes Art Deco appealing. Choose its height and its gold or black finish, then let the stone draw a soft light across your wall or ceiling.
