Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis alabaster wall light is made up of a shade of real stone cut from the solid block and a brass frame. It measures 19 cm wide by 80 cm high and fixes to the wall with integrated wiring. A vertical and singular alabaster wall light, whose veining and tone change from one piece to the next.
An alabaster wall light is set apart by the nature of its material. Here the shade is real alabaster, cut from the solid block, so what you have is carved stone rather than an imitation, letting the light pass through and revealing its inner shading. The veining, the tone and the translucency vary from piece to piece, which means every alabaster wall light differs slightly from its neighbour. That singularity is the signature of natural stone and it is the charm of the object. The format is firmly vertical, 19 cm wide by 80 cm high, a slender silhouette that follows the verticality of a wall, a door or a mirror. It stands as a decorative element in its own right, unlit as much as lit, through the presence of the stone and the fineness of the metal carrying it. In a lounge, a bedroom or an entrance, an alabaster wall light of this height can replace a heavier piece and leaves the wall breathing around it. The light filtered by the stone does not try to fill the room, it makes a soft point of light that brings the wall and the objects near it forward. An alabaster wall light therefore finds its place in a hallway, beside a staircase or either side of a low cabinet, and agrees with natural materials and quiet tones.
The frame and the finishes are brass, a metal that frames alabaster crisply and adds a warm note. That combination of stone and metal gives the alabaster wall light a plain balance, with the brass drawing the line and the alabaster supplying the light. The source rests on a GU10 cap, which settles the choice of bulb. Installation is on the wall with integrated wiring, and an electrician is recommended to make the connection properly. That precaution is simple and holds no surprises, since it guarantees a clean fit, suited to the 80 cm height of the alabaster wall light and to the make-up of your wall. Make sure the supply is run before fixing, so the wiring stays hidden behind the piece, and take the height into account in a room of 2.4 m, where 80 cm of stone needs setting out carefully above the skirting. The bulb will be chosen for that cap, favouring a warm light to bring out the tone of the stone and its veins. What carries this alabaster wall light is its material and its form, a real stone, a noble metal and a spare drawing that finds its place in many rooms.
To show your alabaster wall light to advantage, choose a clear wall that lets the stone be seen over its full height. A plain wall, pale or dark, underlines the veins and the translucency, and a matt paint serves the stone better than a sheen that competes with it. As a pair either side of a bed, a chimney breast or a door, the alabaster wall light draws an elegant symmetry and lengthens the space, and that pairing means ordering two. On its own it acts as a column of light in a hallway, the corner of a lounge or an entrance. Since every alabaster wall light carries its own veins and its own tone, two placed side by side will never be quite identical, which is a quality to accept rather than a fault, because it gives the composition life. Put an alabaster wall light with natural materials such as timber, linen or ceramic, and with muted tones. The brass, for its part, converses readily with handles, frames or other pieces of the same finish already in the room, for an effortless harmony. If you want to build a group, favour a regular repetition of the same alabaster wall light at an identical height, so the difference in veining reads as a deliberate variation rather than an irregularity across the run of alabaster wall lights.
Vertical, translucent and unique, this alabaster wall light brings the presence of real stone and the warmth of brass. Have this singular piece fitted by an electrician and give your wall a light that resembles no other.
