Description
keyboard_arrow_downA compact alabaster wall light, made for interiors that put natural materials first. This alabaster wall light joins real stone to a brass structure, in a size of 12 cm in diameter by 34 cm high. Each piece is carved from the solid block, which gives it a character of its own.
Real alabaster is the material that defines this fitting. Unlike a moulded diffuser, the shade of this alabaster wall light is carved from the solid block: it begins as a piece of stone and is worked until it reaches its final form. That method preserves the natural veins of the rock, which draw shading inside the shade that belongs to that piece alone. When the source comes on, the translucency of the alabaster lets light travel through the stone and brings those veins forward, where an opaque surface would hide them. Lit in this way, the alabaster wall light does more than illuminate: it stages the material. The experience is sensory as much as decorative, because the wall receives a light that carries the signature of the stone. For a lounge, a corridor or a bedroom, this alabaster wall light brings a discreet mineral presence with no reach for display. Its format, 12 cm in diameter over 34 cm of height, stays measured: it goes readily either side of a mirror, a headboard or along a passage, and it finds a place in a contemporary interior where each object has been chosen with care. Choosing alabaster means accepting that no piece quite resembles its neighbour, and that is precisely what gives a well-chosen alabaster wall light its value.
On construction, this alabaster wall light rests on a brass structure, a metal valued for the way it holds up and for the composure of its finish. The alabaster shade is mounted on that frame, for an assembly measuring 12 cm in diameter and 34 cm high. The source is an integrated LED: there is no bulb to select, since the light is part of the fitting itself. The integrated wiring simplifies the preparation, but we recommend an electrician for the connection to the circuit. That precaution holds for any alabaster wall light fixed to a wall, and it lets you enjoy the light without wondering about the joint behind the backplate. This design decision, brass, alabaster and LED, gives a coherent product: the stone diffuses, the metal structures and the source stays out of sight. The lines are spare, with no superfluous ornament, so attention falls on the material rather than the shape. That restraint agrees with contemporary interiors as readily as with more traditional rooms. It also makes an alabaster wall light of this size workable alone or in twos, according to the length of wall to be dressed. Set beside other fittings in natural materials, this alabaster wall light composes a coherent scheme in which each source keeps its place. Stone and brass together are worth mentioning to whoever drills the wall, because the fixing follows from what it has to hold rather than from habit.
It is worth knowing that natural stone does not repeat itself. The veining, the tone and the translucency of alabaster vary from piece to piece, so the alabaster wall light you receive will not be strictly identical to a photograph or to another example. Those differences are not faults; they record the mineral origin of the material and the work done on the block. If you fit several in one room, those variations make a living harmony rather than a rigid uniformity. Plan the position of the alabaster wall light before fitting: the 34 cm height asks for a clear run of wall, and the connection has to be settled with your electrician in advance. Once in place, let the light bring out the veins and watch how they shift with the hour and the daylight in the room. That conversation between rock and source is where this alabaster wall light earns its keep, and where you understand why the raw material was kept at the centre of the design. Set alone or in a pair, it is a reminder that the best fitting is often the one that lets the material speak, and that an alabaster wall light needs no artifice to hold a wall.
With its shade of real alabaster, its brass structure and its integrated LED, this alabaster wall light combines restraint with character. Add it to your lighting scheme and give your walls a mineral light of their own.
