Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis ceramic wall light pairs a shade in premium ceramic, painted with an indigo blue floral pattern on white, with an arm in solid brass. The wall base is textured ceramic in pure white, and the moving joint is finished in gold. Rated for damp locations, it is as much at home beside a basin as under a covered porch.
Ceramic carries something that neither plastic nor pressed metal manages: the sense of an object that was made rather than moulded. This ceramic wall light puts that material at the centre of the room. Its shade in premium ceramic is decorated with an indigo blue floral pattern on a white ground, closer to old faience and inherited tableware than to anything contemporary, and that deep blue is exactly what lets it sit in a plain modern room without looking out of period. A patterned ceramic wall light is a harder thing to carry off than a plain one, and the depth of that indigo is what makes it possible. The solid brass arm, in a gold finish, carries the shade away from the white wall base, and the whole piece turns on the contrast between the cool white of the textured ceramic and the warmth of the metal. Brass earns its keep here, because it is the one material that will keep changing quietly over the years while the ceramic stays as it is. At 17 cm wide and 13 cm high this ceramic wall light is genuinely small, which is what makes it useful above a basin, beside a mirror or over a doorway where a larger fitting would crowd the space. Under a covered porch or in a sheltered entrance it does the welcoming, and because the proportions are modest a pair either side of a front door reads as considered rather than grand.
The electrical side is deliberately ordinary, which is good news for whoever fits it. This ceramic wall light takes a standard E26/E27 Edison screw (ES) lampholder, one only, for a lamp of 40 W maximum, incandescent or the LED equivalent. The lamp is not supplied, so the colour temperature is yours to choose, and an LED at the same output draws far less current and keeps the ceramic shade cooler over a long evening. This ceramic wall light is compatible with a dimmer, which is not included; if your circuit already has one you can soften the light from the first night, and if it does not, a dimmer can be added later without touching the light itself. Nothing about the wiring of this ceramic wall light is unusual, which is exactly what you want behind a tiled wall. It is rated for damp locations, which is what allows it into a bathroom or a covered outdoor space rather than a dry room alone. At 17 cm by 13 cm the ceramic wall light projects very little, so in a room with a 2.4 m ceiling, or in a narrow cloakroom, there is no drop to allow for and no low point to walk into. Mounting can be on the wall or on the ceiling. Before anyone drills, confirm that the supply cable lands where the base will sit, and have the connection made by a qualified electrician who will set the position against the bathroom zones.
Above a basin, place the ceramic wall light high enough that the shade sits clear of the mirror frame and low enough that the light falls on a face rather than the top of a head. Choose a warm white lamp: it lifts the indigo blue out of the glaze and makes the brass read as gold rather than yellow. Respect the 40 W ceiling, and if you intend to dim, pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer, since one without the other will flicker or simply refuse. In a small shower room the compact footprint of the ceramic wall light is the whole argument, and a single fitting beside the mirror is usually enough. In a hallway, the same ceramic wall light above a console gives a low, hospitable light that a ceiling fitting cannot. Keep a dry cloth for the glaze and leave the brass to take on its own patina, or polish it if you prefer it bright.
A premium ceramic shade, a solid brass arm, a damp-location rating and the choice of wall or ceiling mounting: this ceramic wall light brings character to a bathroom or a sheltered entrance in a very small footprint. Fit one above a basin, or a pair either side of a mirror, and let a warm lamp find the indigo in the pattern.

Light decides whether a room makes you want to stay. Each light is chosen for its material and for what it does with it.
A hallway, a bedhead or a table each call for a different light. Our collections are organised by use.
The market is full of painted resin that imitates marble. Our travertines and alabasters are cut from stone: no two pieces are identical.
Exact dimensions, material, bulb cap type, what is included: everything is on the product page. You know what you are installing.

keyboard_arrow_downNo, and that is deliberate: travertine and alabaster are real stones, and the veining differs from one piece to the next. The shape and dimensions, however, are as specified.
Can I install a light in a bathroom?
keyboard_arrow_downSome models. The ‘bathroom zone rating’ entry appears on the relevant product pages — without it, keep the light for dry rooms.
