Description
keyboard_arrow_downThis black alabaster wall light puts a shade of real alabaster, carved from solid stone, on a matt black metal structure. The integrated LED of the alabaster wall light reveals the translucency of the stone and its natural veining. Every example stays unique to itself.
Alabaster is a stone that lets light through. The moment an alabaster wall light is switched on, the material lights from within and shows a range of cream, honey and milky white that no industrial process reproduces. The shade here is carved from the solid: neither moulded nor assembled from fragments, but cut from a single block of real stone. That method gives the piece a visual weight and a density you notice at first glance. The contrast with the matt black metal of the structure is deliberate: the dark mount draws a clean line around the stone and makes its pallor stand out. At 19.8 cm wide and 40 cm tall, this alabaster wall light takes a slim vertical format that organises a plane of wall without saturating it, and under a 2.4 m ceiling those 40 cm sit comfortably with the centre at about eye level. An alabaster wall light of this proportion finds its place in a living room either side of a sofa, in a bedroom above a headboard, or along a hallway where it sets a calm rhythm of light. One characteristic to know: the veining, the tone and the translucency vary from piece to piece. That is not a fault but the proof of an authentic material, and it means each alabaster wall light is an example in its own right.
A good stone deserves a source to match. This alabaster wall light carries its LED built in, which removes the search for a compatible bulb and keeps the silhouette pure: no visible cap, nothing to interrupt the stone. The light is spread through the body of the material, whose natural translucency diffuses a soft, enveloping glow. The matt black metal structure brings the graphic discipline a contemporary room wants while holding the whole assembly on the wall. Electrically, the alabaster wall light runs on 110 V to 240 V AC, which covers the common domestic supply, and the wiring is integrated, so no cable is left on show. An electrician is nonetheless recommended for the connection, a sensible precaution for a fixed fitting whose cable route needs to stay tidy. On this alabaster wall light, 40 cm of carved stone is substantial, so the fixing deserves the same attention as the wiring: into masonry, or into a noggin behind plasterboard, and never a plug on its own, however tidy it looks. Lit, the stone glows in warm tones; unlit, it remains a decorative presence on the wall in its own right.
This alabaster wall light is made for indoor use in a dry atmosphere. Keep it to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, entrances and studies, and leave out the bathroom and any outdoor position; the stone of an alabaster wall light does not take excess moisture well, which is why that recommendation matters. To show it properly, choose a clear wall: alabaster reads best against plain paint, off-white, beige, greige or a deep green, all of which give the stone room to be looked at. Set at eye level or a little above, the alabaster wall light lets its light fall gently down the wall and sculpts the veining as it goes. If you fit several, present them as a pair and let the variation in tone become a refined detail rather than a mismatch, since no two will ever be identical. For cleaning, a soft dry cloth lifts the dust from the stone and the mount alike; avoid aggressive products, which could mark the surface of an alabaster wall light permanently. Have the fitting installed by an electrician and check the circuit is isolated before any work on the wiring. Fitted either side of a sofa or a headboard, an alabaster wall light of this height asks for two units, and the difference between the two stones is what makes the arrangement worth looking at. Mark the centre line on the wall and step back a few paces before anything is drilled.
Real stone, a black mount and a soft light: this alabaster wall light brings your wall a material that is rare and honest, with an integrated LED, concealed wiring and a 19.8 by 40 cm format. Each piece being unique, yours will exist only once, and the stone that reaches you will be no one else’s.
